The 2017-2018 school year starts my third year as the Middle School Counselor at Newcastle Middle School. I am excited for the start of another great year!
My goal each day is to make a positive impact in the lives of students. My passion has really developed at the middle school level; the last year at NMS has set the scene for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skill necessary for children to become healthy, competent and confident learners. Each day I hope to create a safe environment in which all students will feel they can achieve anything they put their minds to. I am excited to continue to make an impact at Newcastle Middle School, as your school counselor.
Please feel free to reach out to me at any point during the school year!
The Newcastle Middle School Comprehensive School Guidance and Counseling Program supports all students in academic growth, career planning, and personal/social development. I understand how life outside of school can impede student learning. The school counselor uses multiple techniques to provide support, outreach, prevention/intervention services and guidance curriculum to all students to help aid in the best academic experience possible. Again, families and students are encouraged throughout the year to contact me, the school counselor to address any areas of concern.
Pull out sessions and individual planning for academic, career or personal/social needs is available all year to all students. Students may seek academic advising or support for personal/social concerns by completing a ‘School Counselor Request Form’ or by teacher/parent referral (Please fill out, scan and send via email). Please see the confidentiality statement. Multiple referrals or unresolved issues may result in parent/guardian contact, consultation and/or referral for additional services. Parents are welcome to drop-in but appointments are strongly recommended so I can put 100% focus toward your concerns. Always feel free to call or email me! Students are welcome to visit me before and after school, during passing time and lunch. If I am not available, students can complete a “Counselor Appointment Request” form, available outside my counseling office, and I will call the student to the office during the school day at the least invasive time according to status of "emergency".
